The Ship Is Sailing at IAAPA Expo Europe 2026

For more than a decade, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has been an important part of Ropeland’s journey, bringing us together with innovators, designers and industry professionals from around the world. This year, however, we wanted to bring something different to London…

Inspired by the majestic sailing galleons and the era of the great maritime discoveries, our designers set out to create something that would combine imagination, craftsmanship and adventure. The result is RL1005-BOAT – one of Ropeland’s first attractions in a new generation of themed children’s playgrounds.

With an impressive area of 170 m², this innovative construction combines artistic vision with multi-level climbing, exploration and imaginative play.

From 22 to 24 September 2026, visitors to IAAPA Expo Europe in London will have the opportunity to experience RL1005-BOAT in person at Stand 4715 and discover how traditional craftsmanship can be transformed into an innovative entertainment experience for children.

When a Galleon Becomes an Adventure

RL1005-BOAT is much more than a children’s playground with a nautical theme. Its entire concept is built around the image of an old sailing galleon in full sail – a symbol of discovery and adventure.

The design transforms the attraction into a world waiting to be explored. Children can climb, move through different levels and spaces, find new routes and create their own stories as they play.

This reflects the philosophy behind Ropeland: a playground should not simply be a place for physical activity, but a space that encourages children to create their own imaginary adventures while staying active and exploring.

At the same time, safety remains an essential part of the design and development process. EN 1176, the European standard series for public playground equipment and surfacing, provides requirements and guidance designed to address foreseeable hazards and help reduce the risk of serious injury while supporting challenging and developmentally appropriate play.

170 m² of Climbing, Exploration and Imaginative Play

With an impressive area of 170 m², RL1005-BOAT offers considerably more than a conventional playground.

The structure combines:

• multi-level climbing;
• exploration areas;
• varied play routes;
• themed elements inspired by maritime adventures;
• hand-woven construction;
• opportunities for both active and imaginative play.

Visitors at IAAPA Expo Europe will have the opportunity not only to view the attraction, but to enter the structure and experience it for themselves. This provides a first-hand impression of the precision of the workmanship, the quality of the construction and the attention given to every detail – including the considerations incorporated into the design with regard to children’s safety and the applicable EN 1176 requirements.

Ropeland’s Original Hand-Woven Craftsmanship

With 25 years of experience in the industry, Ropeland has developed a distinctive approach to craftsmanship, where authenticity, originality and attention to detail remain essential.

RL1005-BOAT is a 100% original Ropeland product, developed using the company’s own expertise and design approach. Each element combines skilled manual work, creativity and careful attention to detail.

The concept was developed by Ropeland as a unique themed design and is protected as intellectual property. The design is registered with EUIPO – the European Union Intellectual Property Office, highlighting Ropeland’s commitment to protecting its original concepts and creative solutions.

For clients, this represents an important additional value: not only a functional attraction, but a distinctive themed experience designed to stand out.

RL1005-BOAT is currently available for pre-sale.

This gives operators of family entertainment centres, theme parks, resorts, hotels and other leisure destinations the opportunity to discuss the project directly with the Ropeland team during the exhibition and explore the possibilities for purchasing and installing the attraction.

Following the exhibition, the attraction can be installed at the client’s location, subject to the agreed terms for sale, delivery and installation.
